How to Buy Sexual Wellness Products Discreetly and Safely
Wanting privacy when you buy a vibrator, lubricant, or other intimate product is completely reasonable. Maybe you share a home, use a shared card, or simply prefer to keep personal things personal. The good news is that many official stores have clear policies on packaging, billing, and data. The less obvious part is knowing what "discreet" really covers, and how to avoid counterfeit products that may be unsafe. This guide summarizes official store policies as of October 1, 2026, plus practical steps you can take yourself.

What "discreet shipping" actually means
"Discreet" usually means three things: a plain outer box or envelope, no product images or brand logos on the outside, and a neutral sender name on the label. It does not mean the package is anonymous. Carriers require a return address, and the label always shows your name and address. Lovehoney, for example, notes that "courier services require us to have a return address on all orders" (Lovehoney USA, Plain packaging).
So the realistic goal is a package that does not reveal its contents, not one that is untraceable.
Packaging policies at official stores
Here is what several official U.S. stores say on their own pages:
| Store | Outer packaging | Name on the label |
|---|---|---|
| Lovehoney (U.S.) | Plain brown boxes; small items in plain, heavy-duty envelopes; no brand markings on the back or sides | Lovehoney appears as "LH Trading"; the return address is the Atlanta, GA warehouse and does not include "Lovehoney" |
| TENGA Store USA | Discreet brown box with no TENGA branding or logo | Return addressee "TENGA USA INC." |
| iroha Store USA | Discreet brown box with no iroha or TENGA branding | Return addressee "TENGA USA INC." |
| Womanizer (U.S.) | Plain boxes with a discreet label | Shipped from "WOW Tech USA Ltd." |
| Lovense | Standard brown outer box with no markings referring to the company, plus an inner discreet box | The company says the outer box has no information identifying the contents |

Practical tips:
- Use tracking so you know when a parcel will arrive.
- Consider a pickup point or locker if the store and carrier offer one. Lovehoney, for example, offers delivery to your door or to a local collection point.
- Be careful with parcel-forwarding services. Lovehoney and TENGA Store USA both say they are not responsible for loss or damage when orders go to a forwarding company.
What appears on your card statement
The name on your bank or card statement is called a "billing descriptor." Only some stores publish theirs:
- TENGA Store USA: charges appear as "SP * USA TENGA STORE" (TENGA Store USA FAQ).
- Lovense: the company says the charge "will be accompanied by a random code," but notes that a few payment processors require a website associated with the order (Lovense FAQ).
- Lovehoney and Womanizer: we could not find a published billing descriptor on their official help pages. If this matters to you, ask customer service before ordering.
Many stores also accept digital wallets such as Apple Pay, Google Pay, or PayPal. What appears in those wallet histories depends on the provider, so check your own account settings. Store gift cards are another option. Lovehoney, for example, sells gift cards, though it notes they cannot be used with Apple Pay or Google Pay.
Protecting your privacy online
- Guest checkout. Some stores let you order without creating an account. Womanizer, for example, offers guest checkout (Womanizer Care).
- Marketing emails. Opt out at checkout if you do not want promotional emails arriving in a shared inbox. Lovehoney says it will not add you to a mailing list unless you ask, and that it will not sell your data to third parties (Lovehoney USA Help).
- Shared devices. Use a private browsing window, sign out afterward, and check whether order confirmations or ads might appear on shared screens.
- Reviews. TENGA Store USA lets you choose a nickname or pseudonym when you post a product review.
App-connected toys deserve extra care. These toys link to an account and sometimes to the internet. In 2025, Dutch media reported a security flaw in the Lovense app that could expose users' email addresses, and two Dutch retailers temporarily paused sales (NL Times, 2025). We do not know the current status of that issue. If you choose a connected toy, keep the app updated, use a strong and unique password, review permissions, and only share control with people you trust.
Avoiding counterfeits
Counterfeit intimate products are not just a brand issue. You cannot be sure what materials they contain or whether they meet safety standards. Signs that brands take this seriously:
- Lovense filed a federal lawsuit in Illinois in 2023 against online sellers it accused of selling counterfeit versions of its Lush products (Hytto Pte. Ltd. v. Schedule A defendants, 2023).
- The Lovense Remote app listing states that it supports only official Lovense products and not "third-party or fake items claiming Lovense compatibility."
- Magic Wand's official site warns that "if you find a deal that seems too good to be true, it probably is," and offers guidance on identifying an authentic product.
- TENGA's corporate site warns customers about scams that misuse the TENGA company and brand name.
- Womanizer's 5-year warranty applies to products bought from the company directly or from an authorized reseller, with proof of purchase.
How to protect yourself:
- Buy from the brand's official store, or from retailers listed on the brand's "where to buy" or authorized retailer page.
- Be wary of prices far below the official store, unusual packaging, missing manuals, or sellers with no clear return policy.
- Type the official address yourself rather than following links in unexpected messages.
- Keep your receipt or order confirmation. You will need it for warranty claims.
Material safety is another reason to stay with reputable sellers. A Danish government report found that many sex toys had no material description, and that products sold as "jelly" were actually plasticized PVC containing phthalates (Danish EPA, 2006). The international standard ISO 3533:2021 now sets safety and labeling requirements for sex toy materials and design (ISO, 2021).
Returns and hygiene: know the rules first
For hygiene reasons, opened intimate products usually cannot be returned. Policies at official stores, as stated on their pages:
| Store | Returns | Warranty |
|---|---|---|
| Lovehoney (U.S.) | 30 days for unopened, unused items; plus a 100-day "Pleasure Guarantee" (one toy per order, store gift voucher up to $249, return postage paid by customer, some categories excluded) | 1 year (2 years for We-Vibe, Arcwave, ROMP; 5 years for Womanizer) |
| TENGA Store USA | 30 days, unopened and unused only | 1 year for rechargeable and electronic items; 3 months for battery-powered iroha and non-electronic items |
| iroha Store USA | 30 days, unopened and unused only | 1 year for rechargeable items (6 months for iroha SVR); 3 months for battery-powered and non-electronic items |
| Womanizer | No returns once the packaging seal is broken | 5 years for manufacturing defects |

If a product arrives damaged or faulty, contact the store quickly. Some have time limits. TENGA Store USA asks customers to report lost parcels or damaged items within 60 days of purchase, and Lovehoney asks customers to report undelivered orders within 14 days of the estimated delivery date.
When your order arrives
- Check that the packaging is sealed and the product matches the official description and materials.
- Read the manual, including cleaning, lubricant compatibility, and charging instructions.
- Wash the product before first use and after every use, then dry it fully before storing.
- Store it in a clean pouch or case, away from heat and direct sunlight.
- Do not share toys. If you do, put a fresh condom on the toy each time it is shared or moved between body areas (Your Sexual Health Matters).
Stop using any product that causes pain, burning, or a rash. See a healthcare provider if symptoms such as itching, bleeding, or unusual discharge last more than a few days. If a rechargeable product overheats, swells, or is damaged, stop using it and contact the manufacturer.
Quick checklist
- Buy from the official store or an authorized retailer.
- Read the packaging, billing, and returns pages before ordering.
- Use guest checkout and opt out of marketing emails if you want fewer traces.
- Choose clearly labeled, body-safe materials.
- Keep your proof of purchase for the warranty.
